COMPLETION: FRAGMENTS

In the 2024 edition, COMPLETION: FRAGMENTS evolves into a series of 30 tactile, physical poem sculptures that subvert our expectations of the digital and invite interactive readership. Sheets of fragile, translucent vellum are inscribed with AI training data – Stiles’ own human poetry – then layered with generative verse, and bound in sturdy acrylic reclaimed from digital frames.
The resulting objects, each hand-assembled by the artist, are inversions of the original video prints that stand, singly and together, as a new kind of e-book – a palimpsest of associations between input and output, and an apt metaphor for the delicate balance between what is fleeting and what endures.
Please note, because these works will be included in the Museum of Art + Light’s upcoming exhibition, the sculptures will be shipped to the purchasers at the conclusion of the exhibition.
