ABOUT

SERPENT STATE

Serpent State presents a serpent-like abstract form twisting through a vivid blue field. It symbolizes a continuous cycle of shedding, renewal, and self-reconstruction. The form's flowing body represents the tension between vulnerability and transformation—the way identity breaks apart and reforms as we move through different stages of life. It serves as a reminder that becoming whole is not a final destination but an ongoing, dynamic process of change.”

A handwritten signature that reads 'Thank you' on a black background.
Black and white portrait of a woman with wavy hair, wearing a blazer and a watch, looking directly at the camera.

ABOUT

EMILY XIE

Emily Xie is a New York–based visual artist who uses code and computation to create lifelike textures and forms. Drawing inspiration from textiles, collage, and other physical media, she explores how materials and patterns evolve within a technological context, often touching on mythology, memory, tradition, and heritage.

Her generative systems balance chance and control, the organic and the systematic, and the traditional and the modern. Xie’s algorithms highlight the relationship between human touch and computational structure, frequently referencing the richness of textile arts and mixed media.

Her work has been collected and exhibited internationally, including at Untitled Art Fair, the United Nations Headquarters, Singapore ArtScience Museum, Kunsthalle Zürich, Unit London, the Armory Show, Bright Moments, and throughout Los Angeles with StandardVision.

Before becoming a full-time artist, Xie worked as a software engineer across devtooling, visualization, and machine learning while teaching herself creative coding.
