WORDS BEYOND WORDS
WORDS BEYOND WORDS is an infinitely regenerative poem by acclaimed Kalmyk-American poet and language artist Sasha Stiles. The release explores, expresses and embodies the evolving dialogue between language and technology, author and algorithm.
The heart (or brain) of the project is a custom generative language
system – a layered codex of texts, from bespoke dataset and fine-tuned
LLM to meticulous promptcraft and meta-poetic Processing source
(c)ode – engineered to invoke an emergent AI poet and transform a
simple browser window into a conceptual literary performance space.
With each refresh, the autonomous poet consults its machinic muse,
composes a new verse in real time, and scribes this raw text into a
unique work of art via a dynamic palette of fonts, colors, and stylistic
choices.
The outcome is an endlessly evolving folio of kinetic pages – visual,
visceral verse – as artifacts of our extraordinary moment of creation
transformation and hybrid imagination. Both inspired by and departing
from age-old traditions of poetry and illuminated manuscripts, WORDS
BEYOND WORDS goes beyond the use of technology to accompany or
augment language; it converges text and technology into a previously
unwritten/unwritable genre of transcendent linguistic expression.

SASHA STILES & TECHNELEGY
Sasha Stiles is a first-generation Kalmyk-American poet and language artist whose award-winning work bridges poetry, technology, and collaborative intelligence. Blending text, image, and algorithm, her practice explores the role of the human voice in a digital age. A pioneer in AI-powered literature, Stiles’ work has been recognized by the Sigg Art Prize, Lumen Prize, and Prix Ars Electronica; featured by Artforum, Christie’s, and NPR; and exhibited and performed internationally, from Lincoln Center and the V&A to Art Basel, Kunsthalle Zurich, Outernet London, and Gucci flagships worldwide.

A limited supply of both the Collector’s Edition poster and the Limited Edition prints will be available to purchase on-site at the Art Basel Shop retail location during the fair.
The posters and prints are available on a first-come, first-served basis. -
Collectors of the Limited Edition series will also receive a matching NFT, which can be traded or transferred independently—no NFC authentication required. This provides two distinct expressions of the artwork: a museum-quality print and a digitally portable counterpart.
