A hitchhiker, a Shelby and the desert
In the spring of 1969, Jim Morrison went into the desert to make a film. HWY: An American Pastoral runs fifty minutes and has almost no dialogue. Morrison wrote it, played its hitchhiker and made it with his UCLA film school friends Paul Ferrara, Frank Lisciandro and Babe Hill: a man comes down out of the mountains, drifts through the Mojave and ends up in Los Angeles.
The car is his own. The dust-covered Shelby GT500 he drives through the Joshua trees is the Blue Lady, the only car Morrison ever owned, which vanished a few years later and has never been found. What survives of that spring is the footage: Morrison walking the shoulder of the highway, Morrison behind the wheel at golden hour, Morrison alone in a phone booth after dark.
This collection draws its images frame by frame from that film. Each still is produced as a museum-quality archival pigment print on Hahnemühle FineArt paper, in strictly limited editions, and released in partnership with Jampol Artist Management. More than half a century on, the hitchhiker is still walking.

−Jim Morrison died in 1971, so no print in this collection is hand-signed. Each print carries the James Douglas Morrison signature mark and the HWY: An American Pastoral edition seal beside its edition number, and is accompanied by a matching Certificate of Authenticity.
